Bold text indicates judo-specific training. These sessions are held in the martial arts room (dojo) in the H.K. Ward Gymnasium at the University of Sydney (see below for directions). Please remember to be punctual.
Kids' Classes are run by Dawn Santos, and are open to children between 6 and 12 years of age. Click here for more information.
MONDAY Classes
are instructed by Kristof Frankowski. These classes consist of a hard warm-up accompanied with many of Kristof's trademark squats, tachi waza/ standing technique, randori/sparring, newaza/ ground technique and newaza/ ground sparring. Kristof brings many years of international competition experience to the table and the keen student will always learn something useful in this class.

TUESDAY Classes for women only and are run by Randall Jones on Tuesday evenings. The program for first semester can be downloaded here.

WEDNESDAY Classes are run by our VP and Club Captain Ron Cheung with assistance from Randall Jones and Martin Doyle. Classes consist of warm-ups, moving onto newaza/ground technique, newaza randori , tachi waza technique and finishing with tachi waza randori.
THURSDAY Classes are beginner classes and are run by John Moen. We strongly encourage new white belts to attend this class first before attending any of the more advanced classes.
Saturday class or Warrior training is an informal randori session for all players. Club champions from the last fifty years are often in attendance, and it is a good opportunity for players of all levels and ages to interact. Players should warm up individually beforehand to allow commencement by 3:45pm.

Sunday classes consist of judo from 11am - 12 pm. This hour will be focused more on refining technique for competition and is geared towards those who are interested in competing in the future. Expect lots of competition style drills and focus on aspects of judo competition such as gripping, transitions to the ground, and competition strategies. Then from 12-2pm is a no-gi submission wrestling session in conjunction with the free-style wrestlers and jiu-jitsuka. The Sunday judo session will be cancelled on some weekends mainly because this is the day that tournaments usually happen (you will be given prior notice), but the no-gi session is always on.
The location of H.K. Ward is shown on this map of Sydney University, at grid reference G7.
If you are coming from the city (e.g. Central Station) by bus, catch one of the Parramatta Rd buses (412, 413, 435, 436, 437, 438, 440, 461, 483), and get off at Ross Street, which is the next stop after the Footbridge Theatre. Turn left into the university, walk past the gatehouse, and then bear right. Walk all the way around the right-hand side of No.2 Oval. This will bring you left of and up to the entrance of H.K. Ward - a rectangular brown-brick building.
